The Week in Review: Money Issues #39

“The Week in Review: Money Issues” is my weekly blog research on financial topics that define us as Americans, and shape the way we should do business.

Oh wow … here comes a three-day weekend!

Memorial Day was always one of my favorites when I was a kid … something about getting out of school (and not having to deal with teachers, books, bullies, what have you …) for a few months at least, getting my picnic on, fireworks and getting to catch the afternoon baseball games over at the stadium always did it for me! So speed ahead a couple of decades and what do I have to look forward too? Pretty much everything except the long vacation and early baseball games (damn) plus I now get to drink my beers right in front of everyone (no more sneaking the old man’s Budweiser when he’s not looking). Oh, yea, and I get to light the real fireworks now (no more crappy sparklers)… love that part!

Well, why not pregame this holiday break with the good stuff that I dug up for you? Enjoy:

Rolling Stone: Michael Jackson Postpones First O2 Arena “This Is It” Concerts. Yea, like he had something better to do. Seriously, he should thank his lucky stars that there are still some countries out there whose citizens don’t mind if their children go to a pedophile’s concert! Hey, as long as he keeps it over there …

Autoblog: Chevy to launch limited edition Bumblebee Camaro? Hey Chevy … how many miles per gallon does that thing get? Is it a hybrid? How about any cool “green” features? Weren’t you facing bankruptcy a couple months ago? Still not getting “it”, huh? Oh well, I guess you never will (so long … idiots)!

MobileCrunch: Not Safe: Poll finds 1-in-4 Americans text while driving. I bet that percentage would be much higher down here in Florida … the people down here drive like assberries! I mean I keep hoping and praying for a turn signal, but I never seem to get one. I got a great idea: New York, why don’t you come down and bring your retards back up with you? This would probably clear up most of the ignorance!

iCelebz.com: Bette Midler Says 50 Cents “Made Her Life Worth Living”. Because they have sooo much in common (joking of course)! One sells out concert halls full of old people, and the other sells out … (oh, we’re you waiting for an end to this sentence? Note: there isn’t one). This phony will do anything for publicity (which one do I mean? Does it make a difference?)

Zawya.com: OIL FUTURES: Crude Down 2%, Econ Doubts Prompt Profit Taking. Mark my words: I … will … seriously … kick … a … speculator … right … in … the … f-ing … head … if … gas … prices … reach …over … $2.50 … this … summer! Over and out — stockbrokers, you’ve been warned!

Did any of this make you laugh? I sure as hell hope so, but you never know! I never want to become that guy who thinks he’s funny, while everyone has the opposite opinion. So please, if I made your Friday go by a little faster or easier, let me know about it through my feedback section. This way I can give you what you want, and hopefully you’ll keep coming back for more, and start telling your buddies about me (that’s all I want … I’ll never charge you a dime for anything – I promise). I truly value each and every comment I receive so this is why I make these requests!

Also, if you haven’t done so yet, please subscribe to my feed or email! This way I can send you instant notifications of my latest posts, which I throw out there (note: baseball analogy) every weekday. You won’t catch me (note: another one) dead around here on the weekends (I don’t even think about work during those days).

Well, have yourself a great holiday weekend, my friend … I’m going to be doing a little bit of celebrating myself, and hopefully I don’t run into any of my old teachers or bullies (they’re over 1,200 miles away, but you never know). Anyway, I’ll catch you back here on Tuesday — have yourself a fun Memorial Day!
