The Week in Review: Money Issues #31
By Pete on Mar 27, 2009 in Reviews
“The Week in Review: Money Issues” is my weekly blog research on financial topics that define us as Americans, and shape the way we should do business.
Ouch, my brain hurts … I mean really hurts (I have taken a beating this week)!
Why? Well, five days ago, my work week started off at a pretty regular pace … then it quickly sped up, and then it just went full-tilt (woooo hooooo)! Now, I’m left with a hot-to-the-touch brain that just wants to sit down and relax with a nice cold beer (preferably a Yuengling Lager, but I certainly wouldn’t turn down much of anything right now). I really can’t wait till that closing bell starts to ring (I’m just kidding, there’s no bell … but that would be kind of cool. Like working in a steel mill or something) in a little while … Ok, just checked the clock and I still have a long while to go, but it is what it is. I thought it was like 4:30, but it’s only 12:32 … drats!
Anyways, here goes the goods — hope you enjoy them, seeing as how I didn’t have much time to do the same (if they stink this week, I’m truly sorry. Nah, they’ll be great, I’m just kidding):
NYULOCAL: Mexican Drug Wars Are Our Bad, Says Hillary Clinton. This article talks about drugs, and Mexicans and … who the hell cares, because it’s just so funny that Hillary is trying to be down with the young folks by copping to her mistakes (unlike that last administration … those guys were a-holes). Note to Hillary: You’re doing OK! Another note: McNabb says, “My bad” every time he messes up on the field, and we still love him (sometimes. Other times, not so much).
SAN FRANCISCO SENTINEL.com: TREASURY SECRETARY GEITHNER UNVEILS SWEEPING RULES FOR FINANCIAL FIRMS. This just in: greedy bastards everywhere are shivering in their boots and crying into their overpriced imported beers. “What!!! We can’t screw the American middle class anymore? How are we going to live?” Good for you Geithner, you’re doing a hell of a job (don’t listen to those guys)!
USMAGAZINE.COM: BREAKING NEWS: Madonna Files Adoption Papers for Second Child. Madonna, in my humble opinion of course, is crazier that a sh#@house bat! Really, Madge … just because you messed up your marriage doesn’t mean you have to screw up the life of some kid who is lucky enough to have never heard any of your lame songs! I just don’t get it … do you?
KOHM-FM: Lance Armstrong on the mend. This guy definitely doesn’t know the word “quit”, as in the sentence, “you better quit thinking about the Tour de France, because you will not be ready for it, due to a broken freaking collarbone with 12 screws in it.” Man, he gives me the motivation to do whatever I want to accomplish in life (now where the hell is my Livestrong bracelet).
Gawker: The New York Times Discovers Arithmetic. Ah, the New York Times doesn’t know anything, and as for me: the last thing I learned from this paper is not to buy it (oh, and that it makes a great get-dog-poop-off-your-sneakers device)! I have nothing more to say …
Did I do OK this week (in your opinion)? Better still, did I let you see how a crazy writer’s mind gets when it becomes all frazzled by that ever-present “too much work = stranger and weirder ramblings” equation? If so, why not tell me so through my feedback section (this way I can give you what you want: a website that actually listens to its customers for once. I truly (seriously) value each and every comment I get from my readers (even at this very rapid pace) so this is why I’m asking you now for any ideas or suggestions that you can throw my way!
And if you haven’t done so yet please, please, please subscribe to my feed or email! This way I can send you instant notifications of all my latest posts, which I work on every Monday through Friday (This is very therapeutic for me, to say the least. It really helps me clear my mind in fast-paced times like these).
Well, I’ll see you back here on Monday … I’m going to rest my cranium for most of the weekend (and hopefully the smoke, and that burning smell, will stop coming out of my ears eventually) and I really think that next week will be much, much slower (because I’m certainly hoping and praying for it, LOL). Anyway, I’ll catch you later — have yourself a good weekend!
