The Week in Review: Money Issues #21
By Pete on Jan 16, 2009 in Reviews
“The Week in Review: Money Issues” is my weekly blog research on financial topics that define us as Americans, and shape the way we should do business.
I’m sooo freaking giddy right now (I can hardly contain myself)!
Why, you ask? Well … the Flyers are coming down to the Bank Atlantic center (my new neck of the woods, of which I don’t like that much [Boca is too pretentious, if you ask me]) and I have tickets; my Eagles are one game away from going to the Super Bowl on Sunday (Goodbye Cardinals) and the best news yet (perhaps ever!): next Tuesday is the end of a looonnngg error, and I’m throwing a big party at my house for that one (see ya, G.W.. Now you get to sit around the ranch, and reflect on all the harm you’ve done over the past 8 years [believe me, that’s a whole lot of reflecting, pardner]).
Before I get out of here to kick off the celebration, here goes the best of the best I could scrounge up while blog-surfing this week:
Gawker: Obama’s Old Car Surprisingly Affordable For Republicans. The Buy It Now price on this car is a million bucks. If you do “buy it now” you are a classless, albeit rich, jerk who only wants this car to shout out from the rooftops, “Look at me, I have Barack Obama’s old car!” Then when someone with brains yells back, “You paid a million dollars for a Chrysler, you IDIOT!” I bet you’ll feel real dumb (at least I hope you will, but also know that some people’s skulls are harder than others).
Bloomberg.com: Senate to Vote Today on Releasing $350 Billion in TARP Funds. I bet that it would have been a good idea to give the homeowners a break FIRST. This way, the greedy bankers couldn’t throw their WOW-George-Bush-Gave-Us-A-Whopping-Amount-Of-Cash-Even-Though-We-Caused-This-Econmic-Collapse Party. Well, only the future will decide (this just in from the future: “Yea, it was a huge mistake. Oh yea, Bush is homeless, bitter and friendless now”).
FANIQ: It Appears Only Cardinals Fans Are Sane. If this guy spent half the time looking up sports stats and information, as he does on YouTube and clowning around, he would know that the Cardinals don’t stand a chance. BTW: I spoke with the guy in the Eagles video, and he said “screw you pal” (and then handed me a Pat’s wit [he hates Gino’s] a Wawa house coffee, and a soft pretzel [from a street vendor/roach coach] with brown mustard)! Go Birds!
The Hip-Hop Chronicles: Martin Luther King Gets A Memorial In Washington D.C.. It’s about time that someone did the right thing! This guy was a visionary in so many ways, and I’m glad that I have the opportunity to live in his dream. Being born in ’73 meant that I never had to witness, with my own eyes, the crimes against humanity that must have been daily occurrences to so many Americans, just because they had a different skin color! BTW: I like the Bill Clinton shout out (what a class act)!
LATEST NEWS: Bush: Lowest approval since Nixon. So let me get this straight: Bush is leaving office with an approval rating almost as low as someone who was going to get impeached if he didn’t quit first, half that of another’s who was impeached for lying about a blow-job, blown out of the water by an old school actor, and even beaten down by his old man (who was a never-do-well himself). Sounds like the start of a bad joke (oh wait, that’s what he was, is and always will be. Never mind)!
Any of this nonsense entertain you in the least? If so, then why not join your fellow Remixers and give me a laundry list of what you liked and disliked (go easy though, I’m a sensitive writer [LOL]) through our feedback section. This way I can deliver the goods: a website that actually listens to its customers. Also, I would really like to know what you like to read, so that I can write it for you (oh yea, Geoff feels the same way)!
And if you haven’t done so yet, please subscribe to our feed or email! This way we can send you instant notifications of our latest posts, which we work on every Monday through Friday like clockwork (well like a Made in China clock. No Swiss or Japanese stuff (that’s too classy and expensive, unlike me).
Well, I’ll see you back here on Monday … I hope to do some celebrating this weekend, or else I’ll be doing a lot of crying (I like the celebrating part better). Anyway, enough of my drama — have yourself a super weekend! I really mean it this time (actually, I always mean it when I say things like this)!
