In The Near Future: “Daddy, What’s A Starbucks?”

So long Starbucks, and good riddance!

Who would have thought you could have made so much money selling coffee? Well, the overpriced coffee fad had to die down eventually (just like everything else in this world) and your contingency plans were horrible (you can thank your upper management for that). I mean, did you think that you were going to keep this “nutty” thing going on until the end of times?

Seriously? You had a good (no, great) run, you saturated the market for the longest time and now your customers are answering the questions that you should have brought up in your board room meeting — “Why am I paying $4 for coffee that I can make at home?” or “What’s wrong with McDonald’s coffee? It’s cheaper and taste better!” Sound familiar? Yea, probably not! Continued

Thank you Barnes & Noble. You Guys Rock!

This bookstore is great, for two reasons:

1) No one says anything when I bring in my cheap coffee, or my homemade “Gatorade™ and water” mix, from home (I’ll be damn if I’m going to pay those crazy high, Starbucks prices).

2) They let me read anything I want for as long as I want! This not only gives me something to do when I get bored at home, but it also lets me preview an interesting book before I buy it online for a quarter of the price!

Cheers to the big-box bookstores (or as I like to call them: the place where I can be entertained for a few hours, and then leave with as much money as I came in with)!

FYI: B&N’s my favorite only because it’s the closest (I waste less gas getting there).
