When a man gets engaged, his world suddenly grinds to a screeching halt!

Sure, he has always been a guy, but now he knows instinctively that he will be called upon to become something much more: a man. Maybe he can’t quite put his finger on the difference between a guy and a man, but he knows there is one, and that somehow the difference correlates with the amount of fun he’ll be allowed to have once he says those two infamous words: “I do”! That is why his Bachelor Party must be top-notch … to dull the pain. This is where you, as his best man, come in …
Your job is to dictate what the plans are for the whole night! You has been appointed by the groom to serve as his right hand wingman on one of the most important days of his life, and as a tribute to the groom, you will have the honor of planning something that he’ll always deep down remember. Don’t worry about paying for everything …the costs will be split amongst the rest of the party (thinking about asking the groom for cash? Don’t be that guy … ever!). How many people should be there, you’re asking? I would say only the groom’s party and perhaps a few other friends and family members (I wouldn’t go more than ten; otherwise you’ll lose the intimacy factor). Also, you shouldn’t plan something that’s going to get him in hot water with the bride (however, what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her)! Continued

Got your eye on a new laptop, or a flashy, overpriced digital camera?
Now, at the same time are you low on funds, and seriously contemplating taking those damn credit card companies (who have been flooding your mailbox recently) up on their offer to secure a way too heavy APR line of credit out for it? Well, you better stop right there … before you do anything stupid (truth is: those cards and their companies suck, and they rip people off at the same time) and read the rest of this article. Ready? Ok, let’s move on … Continued

Today, most Americans are working harder than ever, just to get by with their current expenses (that they brought upon themselves, by the way)!
Now, as this large majority keeps adding more and more things to their plates (like two or more car payments, or unnecessary timeshares that they never use) they are taking that same amount of dough away from their retirement funds, of which they’ll sadly learn to regret when that “far-off” date finally gets here. So when the small minority of smart-savers (who can actually see the forest beyond the trees) are able to relax and enjoy their golden years comfortably, the majority will sadly be working until they fall over dead (but don’t worry: they’ll have tons of stories about what they once owned, of which they no longer have because, “They don’t make them like they used to”). Therefore, the smartest thing young people can do in life is to learn some useful advice from old, happy, well-off people!
Below is a collection of what I’ve learned from those “in the know” (and who, coincidentally, smell like Aqua Velva and mothballs combined): Continued

I was taking a walk yesterday afternoon at the park, and when I got back to my car I noticed that my plastic engine cover was hanging down from where it should be (it shouldn’t be on the ground, I know that)!
When I got down to have a closer look, I noticed that three of the bolts that should have been holding it in place were no longer doing “their” job (no thanks to my habit of driving up onto those damn concrete parking lot stopper things). At the time, I only had two options: 1) I could drive home like this and risk having it fall off and help add to the Florida Highway’s trash (believe me, they don’t need any more) or 2) I could find something to hold it up until I could get home later to fix it. I was heavily favoring option 2, and this is the one I went with since I keep some rope in the trunk (I really impress myself sometimes). Continued

I’m on the phone now, ready to dispute my monthly cable bill (that just shot up) with either an electronic voice, someone in India, or worse: some hair-brain American idiot who’s reading off of a script to help me! It really gets my gall that these companies don’t even bother to give you a warning about rate increases anymore — they just expect you to be alright with it. After 15 minutes of waiting … Continued
