The Week in Review: Money Issues #55

The Week in Review: Money Issues” is my weekly blog research on financial topics that define us as Americans, and shape the way we should do business.

I’m about to make “it” happen …

What’s that you ask? Well, my work for the week is wrapped up a day early, and I have almost nothing to do for the next eight hours, if I stayed! Woo Hoo! Looks like someone will be jumping in the old car (I mean really old … my car’s a hunk of junk) and heading towards mi casa to kick off the weekend celebrations (by this, I mean a Phillies/Mets ballgame tonight, tomorrow and a double header on Saturday with an Eagles/Panthers game shown simultaneously at 1:00 pm! Sick, right? Ok, I guess not if you’re routing for another team … oh well). This is going to be sweet …

Now here goes the goodies, which I just cranked out way too early for you, my dear readers, this morning: Continued

You mean to tell me that I have been doing these reviews for a whole year now?

Man, this year just flew by, and here … on the dawn of my Money Issues anniversary … I’m tired as hell! You see, I couldn’t get to bed right away last night (the last time I looked at my alarm clock it read 1:34 am … sucks) because I was too pumped up by that outstanding win my Phightin’ Phils took away from the D-Back (we swept them, AND opened a gaping hole in our divisional lead at the same time … Woo Hoo!) and coincidentally, I got to see how badly A.J. Feeley still is for my Eagles in our preseason game against the Colts (God, I can’t wait until Vick takes the field in green, silver, white and black … ah, whatever PETA people). They served him up a nice ass-whooping last night … freaking bum!

Well anywho … here goes the good stuff that I had to run around and collect this morning, while not really knowing what’s going on in the real world yet (BTW: I had some amazing, “I’m richer than balls” dreams last night). Enjoy: Continued

Hey guys … how’d your boss treat you this week?

Did you get in any trouble? Any fist fights? Closed door brawls? No? Ah, that’s too bad … that kind of crap will actually get you through the work week fast! Try it sometimes … just go up and grab Mark from Accounting by the scruff of his neck and scream this at him, “Hells no am I going to fill out an expense report for a three dollar and twenty cent tab! Now STOP asking!” Come on man, he’s got to do better than that — am I right? Hey guy, I was just kidding … wait a second … what are you doing? NOOOOOO …. Don’t let them see this review … it’s not my fault … delete, delete, delete!!! LOL.

No, I’m just kidding! Workplace violence is not a joking matter … he, he … Ok LOL … whatev! … so sue me! Well, here goes the best stuff I could find for you this week (I thought it was pretty good, but then again … I do have a sick sense of humor): Continued

AIG Is Too Big To Fail, My A#$!

By now, we all know the name AIG!

However, what some of don’t know are the actual figures, which are sure to get anyone with at least half a brain pretty angry. So today, I will give you those real numbers (but don’t shoot the messenger, ok?): seems like Bush wanted to give us all one last, middle finger when he agreed to hand over $165 million in bonus checks to a bunch of greed-soaked employees who only acted like they worked (truth: these crooks lied their way through the workday) in AIG’s distressed Financial Products unit (truth: these jerks knew that they we’re doing something deceptive from day one). Not only that, but these bonuses happened to be only a small part of an even bigger package ($450 million, to be exact) which these employees thought was rightfully theirs (oh, I’d love to punch a few of these a-holes right in the temple and kidney). Man, I had a pretty good day today!

You see, I’ve been trying to stay off the drugs and have been cutting way back (when I say “drugs”, I really mean coffee). That black gold has helped keep my writing fingers go on for days at a time, but sometimes it gives me a pounding headache. So now, I’m down to one 16oz. ceramic cup a day! You know what … I feel ten times better because of this change in my lifestyle (I hope I can keep it going). Now if I could only force myself to go out and exercise more (this has been a slowly-evolving process for me, but I’ll eventually get back on track)!

Well, here goes the good stuff for this week … enjoy: Continued
