Stop Buying People’s Approval Of You!

Buying stuff to impress others is a huge waste of money!

Spending too much time worrying about what other people think of you will give you a major complex and the end product of this “disease” is super-low self esteem. In life, you’re never going to have the approval of everyone so why even try … the only person who will suffer as a consequence is you, and for what? Other people’s snake oil approval of you? I don’t think so … please read on to find out how to stop wasting your cash on other people!

How to be truly happy in life: by only worrying about what you think of yourself (for you will be your hardest judge and jury ever). Example: how many times have you bought something that you thought would make you feel better, only to find that it’s much too late before you realize that you don’t feel any different than before? All too often, we buy things we don’t really need because we want to feel better about ourselves (if you think I’m lying, you’re lying to yourself). Why be like those ignorant people who are just dying to show off what they own? These people are not only arrogant and in debt, but 99 times out of 100 they’re doing what they do because they get a phony feeling of self-worth from what they own (sad, right?) and they need others to reinforce that fake feeling (even sadder, right?)!

People, we are not what we own, trust me … we are way more than what we own! We all have unlimited potential whereas we can only buy a limited amount of things. Instead of throwing money away on objects to make you feel better about yourself, why not invest in things that will lead you to personal growth? Right now, I must admit that you are not the only one who worries about what other people think of them. I am certain that, more often than not, most people want to be liked, respected, and appreciated by their family and friends. Is there something wrong with this behavior? Not at all, if you’re doing it for the right reasons (note: most show-offs aren’t)!

Life is too short to worry about what others think of your lifestyle! So, the next time you’re tempted to make a major purchase ask yourself first who you’re buying it for. Are you buying this (fill in the blank) for you, or just to impress everyone who sees it? If you’re going down the latter road, then at least remember this one important life lesson: the people who really care about you don’t care how much you spent on anything you own. They only care about you, and they’re glad that you are secure in your life — period! Also, a bonus to not caring: you’ll get rid of a lot of stress in your life, you’ll no longer buy things you really can’t afford and you’ll never be stuck with those outrageous payments ever again (cool, huh?)!

Now go out, and make a sincere effort to separate what really matters to you, from what you think matters to everyone else, because at the end of the day it’s only you that you’re stuck with. It’s you that will be staying up all night worried when the bills pile up, and when this day does finally arrive no false three-second opinions of others will matter anymore. However, what will always be relevant in life are the real relationships that we build along the way – and those can never be bought or sold for all the money in the world!

If you learned something here today, I welcome you back to reality, and I truly know how it is (I had to learn this lesson the hard way as an ignorant youth, but now I’ll never forget it for the rest of my life)!
