If You Want Something, You Need To Read This First!

Words are the human race’s primary source of communication. They trigger our emotions and are the defining factor in most of our financial decisions. Remember how the Republican Party went after John Kerry in 2004, by calling him a “flip-flopper”? And how, even though Bush was doing so many illegal things (of which he continues to do) he still remained president. Do you know why? Well, it’s because the words that were chosen to describe Mr. Kerry actually picked the winner of the election, not the voters. That’s right my friends — you were duped!

What is the difference between the words “want” and “need”, you ask? Why is it that certain words can create a burning desire to want something and others make you feel like you are being taken for a ride? The answer is this: it all revolves around the emotional force advertisers can subject you, as a target customer, to. It’s that simple, and becomes very easy to spot when you look out for it!

Learning to separate your needs from wants is an extremely tough job. For starters, ask yourself if you really need this (fill in the blank) and if you can’t say “yes” without doubt, you would be better off if you waited for a little (to see if that urge goes away). Also, if you catch yourself thinking, “I really deserve this!” you should be very cautious — it’s the advertiser’s words playing a dirty trick on your mind. Don’t let them brainwash you into buying what you don’t really need.

Fighting off these ads will help you waste as little money as possible, and will also help get you back on the road to financial stability. Remember this: if an ad seems too good to be true, the advertisers have hired some damn good copywriters. Keep an eye out for these troublemakers, and you’ll be doing yourself a favor (you’ll have more money and less guilt)!

If you aren’t buying any of this, that’s alright: the words I chose weren’t supposed to trick you into changing what you don’t want to change, and I know that feels different to most people!
