GEICO: Where Cavemen Lose Stacks Of Money!

GEICO is the worst insurance provider (in my opinion)!
Allow me to enlighten you (in a time-lapsed version): One day, in the summer of 2005, I parked my car. Someone then hit my car (they were involved in an actual shoot-out with a drug dealer on foot … like a bad after-school special). The pansy then got out and ran (leaving his car atop my back bumper). The cops were then called. The girlfriend of this hit-and-run crook (who actually owned the car) told the cops that she let this jag-off drive her car. She then told GEICO (her insurance company) that she DIDN’T let him drive it. My company (also GEICO) said they couldn’t do anything about it … that it was MY loss. I said I’d be suing THEM, not HER! The manager then gets on the phone and kisses my a#*. She said she needed a ton of police report paperwork, so I got it for her.
A month and a half later (horrible, right?) an adjuster came out, and without even looking at my car declared it totaled. To be fair, maybe he looked at it afterwards (yea right!) but the notes on the account say the car was listed as totaled, after he spoke to me and he said he would not be able to look at it for a few more days. I waited another week, and then called him to see what is going on. He tells me he can’t find my claim number anywhere so he couldn’t help me out (bulls@#t to that). I find my claim number and give it to him. A few more days pass, and FINALLY, he calls me with some s@#tty lowball numbers.
I informed him that I wouldn’t agree to anything without doing some research of my own! I then do my research and discover that my car (the same one that was getting me 49 miles to the gallon, in the middle of the 2005 sudden rise in gas prices) was worth TWICE AS MUCH as his crappy offer. I’m pretty sure that since I have tried to be nice throughout this whole mess, they were trying to take advantage of me … now, NO MORE MR. NICE GUY! This kind of s@#t makes me super angry (I don’t know if you know this about me or not) and I wasn’t going to stand for this nonsense one second longer! “I am not going to sign over any paperwork, and I am going to continue to rent a car, on your tab, until you give me the price that I’m asking for! Good bye!” I scream through the phone!
This factual statement caused me to get more money than I asked for, and afterwards I decided to myself that this will never happen again … so I called to cancel my insurance with GEICO! Now, get this … the ignorant operator had the audacity to ask why (I’m pretty sure they have all this info at the ready) so I told her that her company sucks, that I wasn’t happy with their service (I was with them for seven years, and have never had a late payment) and that I was going to tell 20 of my friends and family how badly I was treated … and then, all of the sudden, my headaches were gone … and I have dealt with a much better provider ever since. So, there it is … my drama with GEICO, in a nutshell!
Today, I saw a GEICO’s ad on TV, and it was the worst POS that I have ever witnessed (note: I work in advertising)! And speaking of stupid freaking ads, GEICO has a whole bunch of them. From talking lizards, to cavemen (really?) to testimonials with celebrity translations … it’s absolutely garbage, and very uncreative at the same time. Now, if I never see another GEICO ad again in my life, it will be too soon. Give it a rest, GEICO, your company sucks! As for your ridiculous commercials: I only picked up GEICO because my friend said that you were good (what does he know, right?) not because of your stupid ads.
People, realize that GEICO is to blame for the raising of competitors insurance rates, because they are trying to match GEICO’s asinine advertising budget. Now, which would you rather have? A low cost insurance rate from a company that doesn’t advertise that much, or, insurance that costs at least double a reasonable price, just because that company spends more money advertising every year than Coca-freaking-Cola? Truth is: the only people who think they are saving money with GEICO are the stupid cavemen sheep out there (note: don’t be like them! Ever!).
From my dealings with this horrible company, I can vouch for this: GEICO seems to hire the rudest and least competent people I have ever dealt with in my life. Now, can you blame me for getting so frustrated that it forced me to check out some of their competitor’s rates? Well, I sure don’t blame myself, and I am very glad that I did. After this fiasco, I switched companies and have been saving over $300 a year ever since … and this time I have full coverage insurance! Pretty sweet, huh?

I feel your pain. Been a Geico customer for a while, now with Progressive. All of the insurance companies are a bunch of unregulated crooks. They can do whatever they want because there is no government control on the insurance business. You pay insurance, someone hits you and then you have to pay even more. I hate them.

I saved about $400 when I switched from Geico to statefarm in 2003. But wait a minute, you said you know have full coverage with a savings of 300 dollars? What you had liability with geico switched saved 300 and got full coverage? Sounds like you saved way more than that considering you a policy that cost more than liability.
